CLIENT:        Our Client is a full service logistics provider based in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic.  Founded as a steamship agency and stevedoring company in 1922 the organization has evolved into a cutting-edge supply chain partner for its customers.

Since its inception the firm has expanded its operations to all ports within the Dominican territory and extended its activities to include, terminal operations,
harbor towing, service and repair facilities and shore excursions for    cruise ship passengers. The company offers integrated logistics services   that combine air cargo, trucking and distribution, warehousing, value added services, logistics and warehouse consulting, salvage, cargo surveying, location surveying, vessel surveying and maritime legal services.

 

POSITION SCOPE:

 

Perform the process of customs clearance of the assigned files at the appropriate time. Handle and coordinate Freight consignment delivery/recovery activities efficiently according to standard operating procedure and customer requirements to maximize productivity/customer satisfaction

Requirements

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of relevant experience preferably in the brokerage for Freight Forwarding and Logistics

 

EDUCATION:

 

  • At least 5 subjects at CXC or a Bachelors in Business
  • Most have a Custom Broker’s License

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify the tariff classification in the customs files.
  • Handle customer enquiries/complaints on shipment handling
  • Coordinate with airline/shipping line /supplier/contractor contact to ensure smooth shipment handling and compliance with standard operating procedures/customer requirements
  • Verify the files that have been assigned.
  • Submit documents to customs.
  • Pay and dispatch the assigned files.
  • Comply with full customs laws and Local laws prior, during and after clearing process
  • Follow up on the files sent to the customs address.
  • Deliver the dispatched goods (if applicable).
  • Maintain internal clearance
  • Coordinate with airline/shipping line /supplier/contractor contact to ensure smooth shipment handling and compliance with standard operating procedures/customer requirements
  • Coordinate with customers (if required) on shipment handling according to standard operating procedures and customers requirements
  • Incumbent has no direct reports and authority over country line and functional personnel.

 

  • He/she must be able to demonstrate ability to influence decisions/actions through provision of value-added inputs into the organisation’s business processes.
  • Detect and report non-conformities to create opportunities to improve in your area.
  • Coordinate effectively with other department contacts to ensure efficient shipment

Handling/documentation/customs clearance/customer issue resolution

  • Process in- & outbound shipments as per standard operating procedure and customer requirements
  • Process and file shipping documents as per standard operating procedures
  • Monitor shipment status and update company systems (e.g. Logis Air / Ocean) as per business rules
  • Create customs documentation and post on the webserver
  • Fill template with billing info, to send to the Finance department in DR
  • Coordinate Collection of services & duties with Customer upon or prior to delivery
  • Scan invoices and post on server
  • Monitor empty container returns as per standard demurrage procedure
