Description

A Shop Foreman is a vital team member in maintaining the operational efficiency of a workshop or industrial environment. This entry-level position involves a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the daily operations of the shop, including maintenance, assisting skilled workers, handling materials, and ensuring safety standards are met. Requirements

Responsibilities

Cleaning and Organizing: Ensure the shop area is clean, organized, and free of hazards. This includes sweeping floors, cleaning workstations, and disposing of waste materials properly.

Assisting Skilled Workers: Provide assistance to technicians and skilled workers, which may include handing tools, preparing materials, or helping with setups for specific tasks.

Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and store all shop inventory. Keep a detailed record of inventory movements and maintain an organized system for easy item retrieval.

Stock Organization: Ensure that the shop or warehouse is organized at all times. Place items in designated areas and ensure that they are correctly labeled and easy to access.

Inventory Audits: Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy in stock levels. Report any discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.

Order Processing: Assist in processing incoming orders by picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment or direct sale.

Receiving Shipments: Unload and check the accuracy of merchandise from incoming shipments. Ensure that all received items are in good condition and match order specifications.

Data Entry: Input inventory data into the company’s inventory management system. Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, and adjustments.

Tool and Equipment Management: Monitor the condition of tools and equipment within the shop. Arrange for repair or replacement as necessary.

Supply Replenishment: Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are low or when there is a need for reordering to prevent stockouts.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Basic Tasks Execution: Perform simple mechanical or manual tasks to support shop operations, under the guidance of more experienced staff.

Equipment Operation: Operate basic machinery and tools after training, following all safety protocols.

Team Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operation of shop activities.

Adaptability: Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks as required by shop needs.

Work Environment:

The Shop Foreman will work in a shop setting, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. The role requires physical stamina and may involve lifting up to 50 pounds. Safety gear must be worn in accordance with shop policies.
